Our much anticipated trip back to Australia has come to a bittersweet end. Why do holidays/vacations have to go sooo quickly? Especially ones that are far far away (Jakey that was for you). So as I sit here munching away on some Aussie chocolate I'm going to reminisce a little about this rollercoaster of a trip. It was definitely weird not to have my dad greet us at the door and insist on helping us with our bags. I know he was there though. Looking down, happy that we made made it home safe and sound. Our plane ride pretty much went down as expected .. our kids are not sleepers .. we already knew that and despite the midnight flight Isabel managed to stay awake quite a long while watching movies until finally after five hours of being in flight gave in to her tired, heavy eyes. She did awesome though! Owen well .. all I can say is we have a wild, wild little boy on our hands! BIG SIGH!
We landed on a Monday and later that evening Owen develops a fever. By Wednesday he was m.i.s.e.r.a.b.l.e so a doctors visit proved he had a sinus infection along with two ear infections. Awesome. The poor boy .. it was sad to see him so sick and not his usual eat everything in sight self. Ha! On Wednesday of that first week Jason starts to have his own illness complete with fever and chills. Are you kidding me? He layed in bed for the next four days which meant that first week was spent laying low for all of us. Well except Isabel she was truly the best little traveller we could have asked for. I'm pretty certain this trip was just as memorable for her. She had a good time.
Her face in the pic below may not show that but then again we know heights are not her thing ;).
This right here is one of many thing that makes me sad about living so far away from family. The fact that these cuties don't get to grow up close to eachother. They have the cutest little relationship full of hugs and sweet words (or baby jibberish) only they understand. More pics of them coming up in a later post ;)
We made the most of family quality time during that week that daddy and Owen rested up but I had to find other things to keep Isabel entertained and decorating Easter eggs was a perfect activity. Kind of. Eggs in Australia have a brown shell and while they are not the best at keeping the colour on, Isabel who does things her way didn't seem to mind because her way meant wiping the colour off them anyway. She was busy and happy and I guess that's all that mattered.
By Sunday our boys were finally on the mend and starting to feel like themselves again. Good thing because it was time to celebrate Easter and baby Nicholas' baptism day. It was a good good day.
Ending our first week on a happy note for sure. Thank you God.
And just like that our first week was sadly over.
Part Two coming up! Stay Tuned ......
