I mentioned earlier how this trip was kind of like a roller coaster ride .. the bumpy ride continued on the afternoon we arrived home from our farmstay adventure when Isabel develops a fever. Are you kidding me? Seriously .. are you kidding me? That's what went through my head! We tried hard to stay away from Jason as much as we could during his time in bed trying to avoid catching his virus just in case it was contagious .. Isabel of course couldn't keep away from her daddy for very long! I said a little prayer that it wouldn't be as bad as her brother's illness. Thanks goodness hers wasn't as severe and didn't seem to last as long. The following day we we asked her if she wanted to visit some kangaroos and she answered with a very excitedly 'YES'! She seemed to be doing OK so off we went to Lone Pine Sanctuary. So glad we went on that day! Looking back on the whole trip it was the perfect day to go with everything else that we had going on! She was such a little trooper!
This cute little Aussie native animal known as a Wombat made us so happy! He is well known to be super lazy and loves to sleep all day and he is usually hiding in his little burrow so we never get to have a good look at him but he gave us a little show that day walking around his enclosure over and over and over again. I'll just pretend he was doing it just for us and giving us his own little 'hello'.
Of course one big highlight was getting up close and personal and trying (hard) to feed the kangaroos. With so many people practically shoving food in their face they usually aren't starving so they just gave Isabel a little sniff on her hand but seeing her so happy and excited made it all worth it! This was her third meeting with kangaroos but no doubt the first one she will remember.
Owen's first meeting was pretty adorable too! His initial uncertainty quickly went away and he was all about getting in there and giving them a good rub! :))
I'm laughing at how huge the kangaroo in the pic below looks! He was big .. but not that big! Ha! Bad camera angle and I needed to step a lot further back for a better perspective I guess. The pic with the four of us and that same kangaroo is a little more accurate. :)
Of course the other highlight was Isabel getting to hold a koala!! Well kind of hold it. They attempted to have her hold it on her own but I guess it was just too big for her so for safety reasons (check out those claws!!) it was held by an expert and notice daddy holding her hands because she really just wanted to give him a big hug. The koala's name was 'Maximus' ... the name of one of the character's in her favourite movie 'Tangled'. She was a happy happy girl.
