FIVE!
And then he was five! My wild and crazy and LOUD and sweet and confident, FUNNY and full of personality little boy went ahead and turned five years old. His fifth birthday landed on a Sunday this year .. the same day of the week he came into this world five years ago.
Funnily enough he could not wait to turn the big number five. For the last few months he has been thinking about this day like it would be the best thing to happen to him. I think a lot of it had to do with watching his sister attend the fun summer camps that she did and taking note that they accepted kids from five years old.
These months leading up to the big day he had been assuring us that he would be dressing himself/brushing his own teeth and sleeping in his own bed aaaall night when he was five. Even though of course we has been capable of doing those things on his own for a while now. But again FIVE was the magic age/number for him.
On the actual day he quietly repeated to himself 'I'm five' over and over again .. it was almost like he couldn't believe it himself. Ha!
We celebrated his day together with most of his classmates at the Reptile Zoo. A super cool place full of all things reptiles and creepy crawlies.
He received quite a few lego sets as gifts from his little friends and he wasted no time in putting them together. He finishes school an hour earlier than his big sister so on the days we came home during that one hour window he went straight to the lego to work on the different pieces. The first few sets he broke open he specifically told me that he didn't need help anymore .. geez that big five brings with it so many awesome things! Sure enough he built most of those first few sets with very very minimal help .. I just assisted in pushing a tiny piece here and there because his little fingers were just not cutting it.
Happy Birthday my awesome little boy! It's going to be awesome being a five year old I just know it!
